Rosemary has earned her reputation for excellence quietly. She is known for making distinct wines notable for restraint and elegance. A graduate of University of California Davis' Viticulture and Enology program, she was introduced to Cabernet Sauvignon at the historic Inglenook Vineyards. From early cellar jobs to a winemaking position with Spottswoode Vineyard and Winery, Rosemary has built her career around a love for wine. Her appreciation and interest in aromatics and blending was born from work with sparkling wine at Mumm Napa Valley. Of course, making wine also means logging hours and miles in the vineyard throughout the growing season. Rosemary can often be found where she most enjoys being- outdoors in the home vineyard or amongst the vines on the properties we are fortunate to collaborate with.
2021 Gallica Grenache Rossi Ranch, Sonoma Valley
Grown at the incredible Rossi Ranch in the heart of Sonoma Valley. The vibe of soulful Sonoma coupled with visionary farming is recognizable on this gorgeous site. The wines are noble, and the purity of Grenache is in large part due to the marginal soils laced with light volcanic ash and obsidian shards. Perfumed and elegant with a silky entry, the tannins are lithe and long. This vintage is packed with alpine strawberries, rosehips, a hint of aniseed, a compote of red fruits, faintly floral and the unmistakable Rossi terroir. Jewel tone in color we are so taken by this vintage, we will be holding back some of it for our library and ourselves. Sixteen months élevage in neutral puncheons.

"The aromatics are gorgeous, with candied raspberries, rose petals and muddled strawberries with notes of fresh basil marking the wine's rich aromas. The palate shows a concentration of ripe strawberries, balsamic, sage, mint, and a kiss of white pepper to finish. This Grenache is supple, fresh and delicate yet wonderfully balanced between fruit and spice."

2018 Petite Sirah Estate Vineyard, Napa Valley
From our small estate planting of handsomely old traditionally trained vines, the 2018 vintage is a knockout. A field blend of mostly Petite Sirah with an occasional Alicante and Carignane vine, Petite Sirah represents only 2% of Napa Valley's total grape acreage. A cross of Syrah and Peloursin, botanists and breeder Francois Durif named the grape after himself. Brought to California in the 1880's from France, it was named Petite Sirah in reference to its berry size. We feel fortunate to tend vines over sixty years of age and still producing an impressive crop. Our version of Petite Sirah is freshly inviting and balanced with moderate sweet tannins. This vintage reveals a pure expression of blueberry pie, dark chocolate, anchored with notes of peat, walnut skin, and sage. Petite Sirah can be cellared however we've crafted this robust variety for simplicity and daily enjoyment.
