Bois de Boursan always rocks!
If you've ever asked me for a CDP recommendation chances are very high I steered you to a Bois de Boursan. Run by JP Versino this Domaine owns ten hectares all within the village of Chateauneuf. If you've ever been there you've probably drove past the Domaine as it's right on the outskirts of town. With 50+ year old vines, JP works organically with no chemical fertilizer or pesticide. I've visited here twice. It's as old school as you can get-no new oak barrels anywhere to be found and the grapes for the red are not destemmed. I've always found a Burgundy like elegance to these wines and they age very, very well. When I saw a small parcel for sale of the outstanding 2019 I jumped on it. I buy these wines for myself every year and I've been following them since my first days of wine retail quite some time ago.

2019 Bois de Boursan Chateauneuf du Pape
"The classic 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape is a blend of 70% Grenache, 10% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre, and the rest a mix of varieties, raised two years in foudre. Gorgeous and incredibly Provençal notes of ripe cherries, blackberries, new saddle leather, and peppery garrigue give way to a medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, seamless Châteauneuf du Pape with a wonderful sense of purity and freshness, both good acidity and building tannins, and a great finish. This is pure, traditional, utterly classic Châteauneuf du Pape done brilliantly. Buy a case and enjoy any time over the coming 15+ years."
