Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a longtime friend and true Oregon wine legend—Mark Vlossak, founder of St. Innocent Winery. Since 1988, Mark has been at the forefront of Oregon wine, helping to define the region's reputation for world-class Pinot Noir. His focus has always been on vineyard expression and balance, and tasting through his current lineup reminded us why he's one of the best in the business.
Among the highlights? An outstanding Pinot Blanc, a lineup of gorgeous single-vineyard Pinots… but one wine truly stole the show—especially when we saw the price.
A seamless, expressive, and incredibly drinkable Pinot that delivers way beyond its price tag. It's complex enough for the enthusiast, but absolutely crowd-pleasing. Frankly, it drinks like a wine twice the price—and that's not an exaggeration.
This year's Villages Cuvée includes fruit from several iconic vineyards, plus—for the first time ever—Mark's own Enchanted Way Estate Vineyard, which adds remarkable depth and aromatic intensity.
Vineyard Breakdown:
• Enchanted Way – 28%
• Temperance Hill – 34%
• Freedom Hill – 24%
• Shea Vineyard – 14%
2023 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Villages Cuvée
Mark describes it best:
"Robust sweet spice aromas with lovely black cherry, smoky berry, and dark rose notes. Juicy and pungent flavors of dark cherry, wild strawberry, allspice, and cinnamon with a touch of smoke. Beautifully balanced with soft tannins and fresh acidity… my favorite wine for Thanksgiving, burgers, brats, and pizza alike. Enjoy now through 2030."
This wine is sold out at the winery (total production is a measly 936 cases), and the local distributor snatched up every last bottle. We got our hands on some—and strongly recommend you do the same. A true no-brainer for Pinot lovers.
