I just returned from the UGC tasting in NYC where the 2021 Bordeaux were on display. Overall the wines were quite easy to taste. Certainly very different than the big, ripe vintages we’ve had as of late. I think they will be relatively accessible young, but I have no doubt that the top wines will age very well. As one Negoce put it “these remind me of the wines of the 90’s but with better winemaking”. I tasted very few wines with green notes and again, overall a very enjoyable (and crowded!) tasting.

Some highlights:
Any of the whites. This is a very, very good vintage for Bordeaux Blanc!

Top wines for me tasted yesterday:
Anything from St. Julien (special shout out to Branaire Ducru)
Canon (great wine-you know it’s Canon right away)
Pavie Macquin
Larcis Ducasse
Clinet
And although they weren’t’ there yesterday my trusted sources tell me the 3 wines of the vintage are: Montrose, Lafite and Cheval Blanc
