We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gerard Perse, the visionary owner of Château Pavie. A true maverick in the world of wine, Mr. Perse recognized something extraordinary in Pavie when he acquired the estate in 1998. His unwavering dedication, bold investment, and belief in the potential of the property revitalized one of Bordeaux’s most historic vineyards.
His efforts culminated in 2022, when Château Pavie was elevated to the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé A—a recognition of the estate's world-class quality and the terroir he championed.
Perched dramatically on the limestone plateau of the Côte de Pavie, the terraced vineyards are among the most stunning sights in Saint-Émilion.
