Vanilla pops, but it’s an ephemeral ginger quality that is at first a bit tough to place and which soon becomes intriguing — and which works wonders with all the fruit in the mix. The palate is soothing and surprisingly chocolatey, with more vanilla and nutty almond giving the whisky a candy bar character. The body is quite creamy and mouth-filling, warming up with touches of dates, maraschino cherries, and a drizzle of honey. The whisky remains engaging well into the finish, where a sweet cream quality and some ripe banana echoes give the whole affair a bit of a banana split quality.
