We love Laroque. The best deal in St. Emilion... at very sharp pricing!

Laroque is simply awesome wine at a fantastic price. This used to be sort of an “insiders” wine until the 2018 version…which received a big score and sort of blew up as a wine to buy on futures. Thanks to our relationships with all the top Negoce we’ve been able to purchase (direct from the Chateau) some back vintages of Laroque and of course the fabulous (I’ve already had 3 bottles it’s so good!) 2022 version is now in stock.

What’s the big deal with Laroque? I was able to visit this property myself last month as I’ve always wanted to check it out. What a spot! Originally a fortified castle in the 12^th century the current Chateau was built in the 17th century.  The property was purchased by the Beaumartin family in 1935 and starting around 2010 the family made a very strong commitment to make Laroque a world class wine. One of the largest vineyards in St. Emilion (61 hectares) the Chateau is located in an excellent terroir close to Troplong Mondot with clay over limestone as the terroir.

The big reason for  Laroque’s success is the leadership of David Suire-the estate’s director. David made his name at Larcis Ducasse and applied the same approach at this estate. You get the opulence from great St. Emilion merlot, the mineral component from the limestone terroir, and the tension and mid palette from David’s talented winemaking team. What more could you want for $40 (and under) Bordeaux?
