Another spectacular offering from young perfectionist Jean-Philippe Janouiex, this 2006 Pomerol is a blend of 92% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc cropped at a modest 29 hectoliters per hectare. Similar to the 2005, the natural alcohol achieved 13.6%. A stunningly dense plum/purple color offers up notes of scorched earth, blackberries, plums, sweet cherries, truffles, and chocolate. Full-bodied with considerable finesse, supple tannins, and a grilled meat-like character, this fleshy, full, opulent wine's huge fruit and glycerin admirably cover its substantial tannins.
