n historical French variety, that was taken in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in 1869 from the Count Teodoro de La Tour and become immediately the most popular red wine in the region.
Now a days, in fact, in all the local restaurants (osteria) Merlot is the most requested type of red wine when it is asked for a “taj di ros” (glass of red wine), to pair with crudo ham or omelette.
Now adopted and loved by the people of the region as a local variety, this wine holds a special place in every Friulano’s heart.
