Mourchon's very talented winemaker, Sébastien, is a Gigondas native and knows everyone in the village. A few years ago, I mentioned to him that I wished Mourchon made a Gigondas, and he told me he'd be happy to craft one for us using a secret source from one of his vigneron friends. I thought he was joking—until a sample arrived. Fantastic stuff! And he still won't tell me where he sources it from... It's obviously someone very good.
A deep garnet red colour with well-blended fruit aromas of raspberry and blackberry and a hint of liquorice on a spicy background. The palate is both velvety and generous with supple fruit.
Enjoy with roasted vegetables, slow-cooked meat dishes or fresh goat’s cheeses.
Crisp red fruit, citrus and blueberry brighten a core of biting acidity in this coastal appellation wine, impressive in texture and length. Coated in cinnamon, nutmeg and black tea, it offers the best of the variety’s fruit and savory components.
Winemaker: The de Crozals family, led by Jean-Marc and Anne, have produced wine at
Domaine des Homs
for three generations.
Vineyard: The grapes are grown on a 22-hectare family estate on a plateau at 300 meters above sea level. The soils are stony with angular pebbles and leached clays.
Farming: The vineyard has been certified organic since 2006.
Vinification: The winemakers practice long macerations and regular pumping over to create a rich and concentrated wine. It is matured in oak barrels for several months
The 2022 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru is a blend of 11 different
